GENERAL INFORMATION, RULES AND REGULATIONS
A. All athletes and owners must be members of their respective country’s National Federation and member of their respective
Provincial Federation (Canadian Entry). All owners and athletes must hold a current EC Sport Licence Gold, Platinum (FEI) or
the equivalent USEF membership or otherwise purchase a temporary Sport Licence.
B. All athletes must be member of Dressage Canada and all athletes competing in amateur classes must have a valid EC
Amateur Card.
C. Canadian entrants are required to provide an active Horse Recording, horse license and hold a Gold or Platinum level
competitor’s sport license, or to buy a temporary upgrade. Horses from the USA can also provide the USEF electronic horse
recording. Participants from other countries must sign an affidavit regarding the horse eligibility for the required levels.
D. Per Article A801, every entry at an EC-sanctioned competition shall constitute an agreement by the person responsible that
the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver or rider and horse shall be subject to the EC constitution and all rules
of EC and any additional rules set by the competition. It is the responsibility of all individuals participating in any capacity in
EC-sanctioned competitions to be knowledgeable regarding the EC constitution and the applicable rules of EC and the
additional rules, if any, imposed by the competition Do not participate in this EC-sanctioned competition in any capacity if you
do not consent to be bound by the constitution and rules of EC and any additional rules imposed by the competition.

Responsability
1. RESPONSIBILITY
Neither the 2019 national shows, nor the owners of the showgrounds, nor the Organizing Committees, nor the officials will be responsible in any way for damages, injuries or loss to persons, horses, property, spectators or exhibitors.
2. RESPONSIBLE PERSON
The Person Responsible for a horse is an adult, who has, or shares, responsibility for the care, training, custody, and performance of the horse and who has official responsibility for that horse under EC Rules and is liable under the penalty provisions of the Rules for any violation of the EC Rules. The person responsible must hold a valid EC Sport License in good standing at the
same level or higher, as that in which the horse is competing.
3. COGGINS AND PASSPORTS
Every horse must be registered with the name written in its passport. Canadian participants must present their horse’s passport, with a valid Horse license. Participants without passports can also buy a temporary Horse license at a show. Foreign participants must sign an affidavit. Valid Coggins tests, dated of less than 6 months, are required for every horse, participating or not.
4. INSURANCES
All owners and competitors are personally responsible for damages to third persons caused by themselves, their employees, their
agents or horses. They are therefore strongly advised to take out third-party insurance providing full coverage for
participation in equestrian events and to keep their policy up to date. Please note that the show organizer or the
owner of Beaulieu Farm cannot be held responsible for injuries or damages incurred to the horse itself.
5. COMPETITION NUMBER
It is compulsory for the horse’s assigned competition number to be worn by the horse or rider when the horse is outside the stall from the time that the number is issued until the end of the competition. Any horse wearing the incorrect number may be eliminated.
6. HEADGEAR
All riders, regardless of age or level of competition, must wear an approved protective headgear, fitted and correctly attached, at all times when mounted at the event location of the competition. Article E 4.0.
7. PROGRAM CHANGE
The Organizing Committee reserves the right to limit entries, divide classes and govern ALL conditions of the show to ensure that they are the same in all divisions.

Administration & Show Office

Closing date: Entries must be received by the show organization at the latest on the day written on the entry form, at the address registered on each inscription form. If the person responsible has not signed the entry form, the rider will not be authorized to compete. Parents or a legal guardian must sign for junior competitors.
9. ADMINISTRATION
Entry forms include a $35 administrative fee.
10. METHOD OF PAYMENT
For an entry to be accepted, a check or money must accompany the entry form signed by the person responsible for the horse. Post-dated checks will not be accepted. Entry is payable to the Organizing Committee. For payment of stabling, please issue a check to the Organizing Committee.
11. NSF PAYMENT
A $35 charge will be applied for any returned check, regardless of the reason.
12. EXPENSES
The Organizing Committee will not be responsible for any expenses of competitors, horses, owners, their employees or agents and does not offer expenses allowances or reimbursements.
13. OPEN ACCOUNTS
Accounts may be opened for the duration of the show by depositing a signed blank check at the show office. All open
account charges remaining at the end of the show will be automatically applied to the blank check.
14. CANCELLATION
No refund will be granted after the closing date for a horse entered and not exhibited, without a written notice from a
veterinarian or medical doctor, in case of a rider, and without approbation from the organizing committee. Refund will
include only entries (not stabling fees except if stall can be filled with another horse).
15. SUBSTITUTIONS
A horse/pony may compete with a substitute rider providing the rider is eligible to enter the class. Same way, a rider
may substitute an eligible horse or pony. Regular entry fees apply. A new competition number will be given. Refer to
article E 7.11.10
16. SHOW OFFICE HOURS
The office will be opened 30 min before classes start and will be closed thirty minutes after the last class. It will also
open from 12:00 to 5.00 pm the day prior of the show.
17. ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURE
Horses will not be accepted on the show grounds before Friday, and must leave by Sunday evening. Those who wish to arrive prior to these dates or to extend their stay must make arrangements with the organizers of the show.
18. RIDING TIME
The schedule and start times will be available online at foxvillage.com no later than the Thursday before the competition. The official schedule will be posted on the Main Board the night before each competition day. The online schedule is not the official schedule. The competitor is solely responsible for the verification. The office will post clearly on the official board all changes to the original schedule.

Competition & Entry Rules
19. STALL RESERVATION & LATE ENTRIES
Stall reservations and late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the show management, without prejudice, subject
to space availability. A $25 late fee will apply after entry closing date.
20. REFUSED ENTRIES
The OC reserves the right to refuse any rider or entry non-compliant with rules and regulations of the horse show or the EC Code of Conducts and Ethics.
21. MULTIPLE ENTRIES
Horse/Rider combination can compete in two consecutive levels (Level 1 and Level 2 for example), for which the rider will pay
entries for both levels. The horse is at all times limited to a maximum of 4 tests in any single day.
22. HORS-CONCOURS
If the show schedule allows it, according to the organizing committee.
23. CATEGORY
Riders who wish to compete in two categories will pay two entry fees, but will ride one test only; the score will count for both categories. If there are fewer than 6 entries per category at any level, the OC may hold the Open category only or combine any two categories.
24. RIBBONS & CHAMPIONSHIPS
A minimum of three ribbons per class will be awarded. National classes championships will be awarded to horses, computed on the highest total of three classes (including Kür) and for the total of the best two classes for the higher levels. The horse can be ridden in a maximum of four classes per day, including freestyle, at the same level or at a maximum of two consecutive levels. To obtain the prize money, the champion must maintain a minimum average of 60% with the selected classes. If money is also given to the Reserve, a minimum average of 58% is required. There is no championship for young horses divisions. To be eligible for the Champion award, the horse must have earned an average minimum score of 60%. To be eligible for the Reserve Champion award, the horse must have earned an average minimum score of 58%.

It is mandatory that riders and designates be correctly attired for presentations. When required, riders should be mounted and on time, otherwise the organizing committee reserves the right to withhold prize money and ribbons.
26. PROTESTS
For regulation governing protests, please refer to chapter 12 of EC rules in Book A.
27. PARA-ÉQUESTRIAN CLASSIFICATION CARD
Athletes must submit a copy of their Para-Equestrian Medical Form or Para-Equestrian Classification Card with their entries and carry a copy of the form with them at all times while on the competition grounds
28. PARA-DRESSAGE PARTICIPATION
Only EC sport license holders may school horses on behalf of an athlete at non-championship competition (EC, M5422)
29. CALLING OF TESTS
The calling of dressage tests is allowed for the national tests. The callers must wear proper attire, with short or long sleeves and no short shorts.
30. NON-SHOWING FEE
Non-showing horses are given a show number that they must wear at all times. They are also subject to all showgrounds rules. A $50 fee per horse will be charged.
31. STABLING
The cost is specified on the entry form per stall from Friday to Sunday (night watch included). Payment must accompany entry forms and is non-refundable after the closing date. Bedding is not included in the price of the stalls. The priority for the permanent stalls goes to stallions and harder to manage horses. Use of additional fans on stalls may be restricted by the
organizers. Stalls located near power outlets will be given in priority to heat sensitive horses, upon veterinary recommendation.
32. EQUINE DRUG TESTING
Any horse entered in any class at a competition may, while on the competition grounds, be selected for equine medication control testing. $7 is added for drug testing.
33. DRESSAGE CANADA LEVY
$10 is added per horse for the Dressage Canada levy fund.
34. OPENING HOURS OF DRESSAGE ARENA
The competition rings will be opened from 10.00am to 7:00pm on Friday. No horse is allowed in or around the competition arena after that. Classes should begin at the time designated as per each competition. Warm-up hours will be available on site.
35. TRAINING AREA
Training is permitted only in designated areas. Riding outside schedule will be permitted if agreed with the stewards.
36. LUNGING AREA
Lunging areas will be identified on grounds map. It is forbidden to lunge a horse outside of the designated area.
37. FREESTYLE MUSIC
Music for the freestyle must be provided on CD (CD format only) to the Show office the day before the show. CD must
be labelled with the rider’s name, competition number and track identified for the selected music. It is the rider’s
responsibility to pick up the CD before the end of the show.

Health, Security & Traffic
38. SHOW FARRIER
A farrier is available on site or on call every day from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
39. VETERINARIAN
A veterinarian is available on call.
40. DOGS
All dogs must be on a leash, and their droppings disposed of in the garbage.
41. CAR PARKING
A parking plan for participants has been established at each location and we ask your cooperation and understanding in respecting the designated parking areas. No parking will be tolerated in the stabling areas.
42. HORSE VANS
Special drop-off and parking have been reserved for horses vans. We request that, once you have unloaded, you do not leave your vans and trailers in the stabling areas.
43. SELF-SUFFICIENT CAMPERS AND TRAILERS
If available, some sites will be reserved. A $75 taxable fee will be added. The competitors must signal their demand on the entry form. Space is limited. Some shows have a different pricing. Please check with the show office.
44. MOTORCYCLES AND ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLES
Due to strict insurance requirements, nobody will be allowed to drive such vehicles on the show grounds.
45. NO SMOKING
To reduce fire hazards, it is not permitted to smoke inside the buildings, including the indoor arenas and a 10 meter non-smoking zone around them except in designated areas.
A farrier is available on site or on call every day from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
39. VETERINARIAN
A veterinarian is available on call.
40. DOGS

Comprehension of the rules
In case of difference between the understandings of these specific rules, the French version will be considered prevalent. For all sports specific rules, the current Equestrian Canada English version is to be considered.
